"Our prime purpose in this life is to help
others. And if you can't help them, at least
do not hurt them." The Dalai Lama
My name is Marco Cuyar (pronounced coo-yar). I have been in practice in a variety of mental health settings since 1999; in private practice in the Phoenix-metro area since 2004. I believe in a no-nonsense approach to counseling/ psychotherapy. I encourage my clients to take the time to examine and challenge what is and isn't working in their lives. Clients are able to choose to make positive, happier and healthier changes in their lives.
I practice evidence-based Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR. However, I believe that therapy should be tailored to my client's need. I have a strengths-based perspective, which is the belief that each of us has a unique strength, ability and resource to allow positive change to take place in our lives. Sometimes we just need a little guidance, a fresh perspective and given the opportunity to learn healthy skills to make positive changes in our lives. My goal as your therapist is to help you achieve good health, life balance and the happiness you deserve. I look forward to the opportunity of being part of this process for you!
